Write what you know!!

The key to writing a good script is to write what you know. That doesn't mean that if you've never been to space you cant write a screenplay about being an astronaut. What that means is that when you pick a subject you are passionate about then you should research the details of the subject before you start writing.

I myself have had many jobs in my life. I've been a chef, a hair stylist, a truck driver, pizza delivery guy, Petty Officer in the Navy, sales man, traveling carney and many more. I thought I was just a jack of all trades because I couldn't keep a job. But the truth is that I got board easily. Later I realized I was just training to be a great story teller. I can probably write a story about any one of those lives I led in my sleep.

Currently I am writing a script about a poker game with the Devil. I was a dealer at the world series of poker in Las Vegas for many years. I have been pulling from my knowledge of that life to write my story. I know a lot about the mechanics of the game. I understand the mind set of gamblers in general. And I know some of the famous people that play professionally. Other things in my script I have to research. But the details will be what makes the project shine.

If you want to write a script then become the hero of the story you are writing and learn everything you can about the subject you are writing about. As well as the world your characters are living in. Focus on facts about the subject even if you're writing a fictional story. What is it like in space? What type of equipment is required to do a space walk...ect.

The script is the foundation of your project. Without an amazing script everything else falls apart. When my script is finished, which should be in the next few days, I will share with you the next step in making an amazing film.
